Parsley Health has reached a significant milestone by becoming the first functional medicine provider to integrate fully with insurance systems across the United States. This groundbreaking development, announced on April 30, 2026, opens the door for 150 million Americans to access Parsley Health’s physician-led, root-cause care via hundreds of major insurance plans.

A Fundamental Shift in Healthcare Accessibility

The integration of Parsley Health into the insurance landscape reflects a transformative shift in the accessibility and affordability of functional medicine. By working in-network with major insurance providers, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, Humana, and Centene, Parsley Health makes services such as provider visits, diagnostic testing, and clinician-directed prescriptions available to millions of Americans.

"When I founded Parsley Health a decade ago, my personal mission was to make quality, evidence-based functional medicine and longevity care available to everyone, and going in-network nationally was the ultimate dream. I am proud to share that we are the first to make that dream a reality", said Dr. Robin Berzin, Founder and CEO of Parsley Health. "Functional medicine was once a luxury item: expensive, hard to find, and inconsistent quality. Parsley has solved all three problems. We’re giving Americans access to care that both optimizes health and treats disease sustainably - and bringing us one step closer to a truly proactive, preventative healthcare system."

Addressing the Chronic Disease Crisis

The launch comes at a time when chronic disease rates in the United States are soaring. According to recent data, three out of four American adults live with at least one chronic condition, and more than half manage multiple. Chronic illnesses account for 90% of the nation’s $4.9 trillion annual healthcare spending. Despite this, traditional healthcare systems remain focused on symptom management, leaving many patients seeking alternatives. This growing demand has helped the global wellness market reach $6.8 trillion and is projected to surpass $10 trillion by 2030.

Parsley Health’s model aligns with this need by employing a systems-based approach to care. It examines interconnected factors, such as hormones, metabolism, gut health, and inflammation, to address a range of conditions, including fatigue, autoimmune issues, metabolic dysfunction, infertility, menopause, and gastrointestinal problems. Notably, 89% of Parsley Health members report significant symptom improvement or complete resolution within their first year, based on the Parsley Symptom Index, a proprietary outcomes tool validated in peer-reviewed research.

Scaling Functional Medicine Nationwide

This expansion builds on Parsley Health’s earlier regional efforts to integrate with insurance. After initially partnering with Mount Sinai Hospital in New York in 2023 and expanding into California, the company has now grown its in-network coverage tenfold, achieving a nationwide presence. This development represents a major leap forward for functional and longevity medicine as an integral part of standard healthcare.

Jim Davis, Chairman, CEO, and President of Quest Diagnostics, sees the move as a pivotal step toward shifting the focus of healthcare from treatment to prevention. "Today 65% of Quest's business is chronic disease care and 35% is prevention and wellness. We would love to flip that ratio because that would mean our country's population would be healthier. Parsley Health bringing functional medicine and longevity care in-network nationally is a huge milestone for the industry towards this shared goal. It shows that proactive, personalized, preventive care that both treats disease and optimizes health is going mainstream. We are proud partners of Parsley Health", said Davis.

Balancing Insurance and Out-of-Pocket Costs

While major services are now covered by insurance, Parsley Health members pay an annual non-covered program fee of $1,500, billed at $125 per month. This fee supports a range of benefits, including functional nutrition coaching, detailed lab interpretation, root-cause care planning, proactive care between visits, care coordination, unlimited messaging with care teams, and access to Parsley’s technology platform and wellness resources. According to Parsley Health, this cost remains far more affordable than traditional out-of-pocket costs for functional medicine, which can range from $2,000 to $15,000 per year without insurance.

A New Era for Preventative Healthcare

Parsley Health’s nationwide rollout signals a new era for functional medicine, bringing evidence-based, personalized healthcare to a broader population. By addressing the root causes of complex conditions and integrating seamlessly into insurance networks, the company is setting a precedent for proactive and preventative care at scale. With the rising demand for wellness and longevity solutions, Parsley Health’s model may well pave the way for a healthier and more sustainable healthcare system.
